Every trail at Araiya begins with the same question: what does this place know that we do not?
At Aalia Jungle Retreat & Spa, the answer comes from the Van Gujjar community — whose knowledge of the Rajaji forest is centuries old and irreplaceable, and whose guided walks take guests beyond the boundary of what any naturalist briefing can cover.
At Amaraya, it comes from the orchards of Ramgarh and from the forty-five-minute road to Kainchi Dham — the ashram where Steve Jobs came in 1974 searching for something he could not name, where Mark Zuckerberg followed on his recommendation, where Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma came quietly with their daughter in November 2022, and which continues to draw people from around the world who cannot quite explain why.
At Kinwani House, it comes from the sacred longitude of 79° E 41’54 — the exact meridian of all twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva — and from the Ganga Aarti at Triveni Ghat, sixteen kilometres away, where the devotional offering of light to the Ganges has continued without interruption for centuries.
At Araiya Palampur, it comes from the Andretta pottery studios — shaped by the Irish artist Norah Richards who made the Kangra Valley her home — and from the Himachali villages surrounding the property, whose way of life predates the hotel by generations.
At Araiya Gir, it comes from the Siddhi community — descendants of East African traders who made Gujarat their home centuries ago — and from the last Asiatic lions, whose territory begins where the property ends.
The trail is not a tour. It is an introduction to the place you are already in.
